Another New Food!

Every Saturday night growing up, we had homemade beans for supper. This was a longstanding tradition in my parents' house and they still do it even though all the kids have moved out. It's odd to go into my parents' house on a Saturday and not smell homemade beans cooking. Yesterday, Graeme & Kennedy went to have dinner with my Mom & Dad because I was out having dinner with a couple of my friends. Kennedy decided she wanted to try beans and promptly devoured two bowls! She wanted to make a video to tell you about it:

WELCOME!

Kennedy's new 'Welcome' video - October 25, 2008

Kennedy wanted to make a new welcome video - it'll live on the side bar at the top but I thought I'd post it a little bigger in a post so people could get a look at all her cuteness!

Disney On Stage!

Kennedy had a great time at Theatre Camp, at the end of the two week camp, they performed a "Disney On Stage" production with different song/dance numbers from the different movies over the years. Here she is in the finale, "We're All In This Together" from High School Musical, which I think was everyone's favourite!

Swim Party!

Kennedy's buddy Samuel had an impromptu swim party today - Kennedy and a couple of other neighborhood kids got invited over for a day of splashing, painting, running through sprinklers, and general kid-mayhem. The kids were all younger than her, but she enjoyed herself immensely and was really good with them.

Here are a few of the pictures:

Pony Tail Girl

Kennedy likes me to do her hair in a pony tail once in a while (which she usually leaves in all of five minutes before she's "finished" and wants it out). Her hair is getting quite long as of late and I thought this bouncy pony tail was so cute, I had to take some pictures.

Those Summer Nights

These are the sunset clouds outside our house the other night. Kennedy came running upstairs saying, "look at that, look at the pink, take a picture, take a picture!" so of course, I grabbed my camera and snapped a few.

Here are Kennedy & Daddy enjoying the sunset together on the deck. What a beautiful ending to a beautiful day...

We had another bonfire tonight - Kennedy is obsessed with burning sticks in the fire: holding it in there until it lights, blowing it out and repeating the process. Hope we don't have a future pyro on our hands! :)

First Weekend of Summer Vacation

Yesterday we headed down to New River Beach for the big sand sculpture contest - it was a nice day, not too hot with a slight breeze. We loved looking at all the sculptures (although Kennedy just wanted to get down and play in the sand...) and we had a picnic on the beach. Afterward we went down to the blueberry stand to visit Nana B and have some ice cream. On the way home, we stopped at a few places I've always wanted to photograph and I got some great photos. Here are a few, starring Ms. Kennedy of course most of the time...

Cool Slideshows!

Today we are going canoeing - I really must get back to studying statistics one of these days!

Three and a Half Days Left of Grade Three

One of the last times Kennedy will be doing her cursive writing and spelling homework for grade three:

Look at the quiet intensity while she does her spelling in cursive writing:

Day Trip To Nana & Papa's Trailer

Kennedy & I took off up to visit Mom & Dad today. We stopped on the way and took some great photos and took the Gondola Point ferry at Kennedy's insistence both ways. It was a nice relaxing day and I think we will be seeing them again on Father's Day tomorrow for a special dinner.

The road up to Mom & Dad's trailer:

Sandbox Fun

Kennedy's Corner of the Deck
Kennedy loves to play in the sand and we love to encourage her to do anything that doesn't involve a screen (although she very much comes naturally by that between her father & I and her two brothers!!!), so we set up her little sand table today and cleared away all the icky spider webs and stuff so she could get onto it when she got home. She had fun making sand tunnels and getting dirty.

I love the little lines she says about what she's doing...she cracks me up!

Kennedy Is Now A Guide

They used to call this a "Flying Up" Ceremony when I was in Brownies; however, it is now simply called "Advancement Ceremony". Kennedy had her last night as a Brownie and moved up to Guides, which will start in the fall. I remember making pretty wings and walking over a bridge when I was a kid - now they line up and give each other "high fives". It's a different world! She was very cute and very excited about it, though. She wanted to go to the Girl Guide store to buy her Guide shirt after Brownies, even though it doesn't start until the fall and the shop was definitely closed at 8:30pm!

Here's a quick clip of Ms. Kennedy movin' on up:

Ms. Straight Hair

Mom, if you're reading, stop now - you won't like this!

Kennedy was born with beautiful curly hair. One might even call it 'unruly' at times but it's sweet and it's Kennedy. Of course, however, she wants long STRAIGHT hair all the time. I finally gave in and straightened her hair with a straightener, she looked so different!!! I can't blame her though, I remember being a teenager and despising my curly locks (I now love and appreciate them). Here is Ms. Straight Hair:

Kennedy's Flower Girl Dress

Kennedy will be the 'flower girl' in my sister Tammy's wedding in August. She is very excited to be all beautiful and carry flowers. It's a casual-type wedding at her cottage, so we wanted to find something summery but still beautiful and flowing for her to wear. I found this outfit and it's just perfect and as a side bonus, it's a skirt/top combo so easy access for tube feeding! Woohoo! She loved it and I think she looks adorable in it. I can't wait to see her in it with her hair all done up with flowers.

Music Festival

Kennedy sang with her school choir in the Provincial Music Festival this week. She knew every word and sang her heart out; I was SO proud! Here are the videos, they were taken from up on the balcony with just my regular camera, not a dedicated video camera, so they aren't too crisp but you can see her, she's on the right end of the first row.

Happy Earth Day

A Very Tired Little GirlI hope everyone had a wonderful Earth Day! Unfortunately I was inside on this glorious, warm, beautiful spring day as I was studying for two exams. Graeme & Kennedy, however, went out to his brother's place and they along with Graeme's brother & his family went to the beach to pick up garbage. They had a picnic at the beach afterwards and played soccer-baseball. Kennedy had a really fun day with her cousins, Jack & Allie. I'm glad she gets to see them and spend some time with them; I remember some really fun times with my cousins back in the day.

A day out in the fresh air, a nice warm bath, and some "Banjo-Tooie" on the Nintendo with big brother Kyle and I'm sure this little "Earth-Girl" will have a really great sleep tonight!

Happy Easter

Kennedy has had a BUSY DAY - she went to a huge Easter Egg Hunt and Party this afternoon and this evening we dyed and painted a dozen eggs, made cards for the Easter Bunny and she had a nice long, hot shower before crawling into bed with a movie (it's so nice when they can just get in and shower themselves!!!).

Here is her Easter wish for everyone (short but sweet!):

Marshmallows!

Yep, she may not eat much orally, but she DOES have her favourites! Marshmallows are right up there on the list along with Goldfish crackers (well, not eating so much as licking all the salt off), yogurt tubes, and ice cream.

Today we had an appointment with the pediatrician - she's up to 64 lbs and 48 inches, so her weight is staying right in the 50th percentile but her height is really low at only about the 5th percentile. She had some blood work done through endocrinology about a month ago, but we haven't got the results back yet. Those results will tell us whether or not she needs to go for further growth hormone testing. She just may be short. The endo is just concerned because Graeme and I are both in the 90th percentile for height and children are usually similar to their parents. That's not throwing "CHARGE" into the mix, however. Time will tell, I guess. Anyway, other than that, she's good 'n' healthy otherwise, she got a clean bill of health from good ol' Dr. Todd.

School is so-so at the moment - I'll save that for another post. Big meeting at the school next week.

Picture of the Day

Our little sweetheart had a birthday party today - she was all dolled up in her fancy red blouse and she looked so adorable I had to take a photo of her. I was wondering how she would make out at the party because this party was for a girl she knows only from her bowling team (it was the coach's daughter's party). When we got to the restaurant, I said, "do you want mom to stay or leave?" - without any hesitation whatsoever she said, "leave!" So leave I did. I took a beautiful walk down to the City Market and shopped/walked around the uptown area until she was finished.
Here's the girl:

Sleepover at Nana & Papa's

Kennedy went last night for a sleepover at Nana & Papa's house as Graeme & I were going curling with a group of students from the university. We aren't "avid curlers" by any means of the imagination - Graeme didn't even curl last night as he is sporting a sore elbow and I've only done it a couple times before. It's not a sport we watch a lot at home, either, so Kennedy hasn't been exposed to it all that much.

Kennedy has watched curling on television with my father before, however, and as we were leaving she said, "will I see you on T.V., mama?" I stifled a giggle and replied, "no baby, not tonight." I think because she was out there with Papa again, she just assumed that if we were curling, she would be watching us on T.V. Ah, the innocence of youth. Nope, no cameras at our little event; the only camera crews that would've captured last night's curling shenanigans would be those of a blooper-type show.

Suffice to say, there weren't too many incidences of any "houses" looking like this photo at the curling rink we were at last night. It was some ugly curling at times, but it was also great fun, which is the main point!
